WOODHILL
ARLIN GRAFF - LETTER OF INTEREST
I would love an opportunity to contribute to the Elevate the East, community-inspired artwork project along Woodhill Road. The emphasis on community engagement and reflecting the culture and history of the Woodhill community deeply resonates with me. With decades of experience as a mural artist leaving my mark on city walls globally, I embrace projects that beautify public spaces while fostering connection and identity within communities.
My unique geometric artwork, which showcases wild animals fragmented by modern technological influence, has been well-received in urban environments around the globe, and for this project, I envision merging a vibrant composition of key words, portraits of local residents, and iconic elements from the Woodhill community seamlessly interwoven with my signature geometric wild animals, crafting a mural that not only dazzles visually but also strikes a chord on a personal level. By tapping into insights from community members, I'll distill key themes and words resonating with their collective identity, weaving them into the artwork to celebrate the richness and diversity of the Woodhill community.
I plan to incorporate portraits of local residents, ensuring their faces and voices shine in this public space. Drawing upon the community's history, I'll identify iconic visuals to pay homage to the past while embracing the present and future. This project presents an exciting opportunity to expand my artistic expression while honoring the stories and heritage of local residents.
I invite local residents to actively participate in painting the mural. My geometric style lends itself easily to allowing community involvement, strengthening bonds and ownership of the artwork. Additionally, I'd love to contract artists from the Woodhill community as apprentices on the wall. Mentoring emerging talents has been a privilege throughout my career, and I believe it can have a transformative impact on both individuals and the community.
Thank you for considering my application. Sincerely,
Arlin Graff
