about
Biography
Arlin Graff (Tatuí, SP, Brazil, 1986) is a visual artist and muralist. His artistic journey began in 1999, with graffiti on freight trains in the countryside of São Paulo, inspired by his connection with nature and a fascination with the freedom of birds, a theme deeply present in his childhood and creative imagination. Without formal artistic training, his practice was shaped by self-taught experimentation during his childhood in his father’s wood shop, where birdcages were crafted. In this environment, scraps of wood were transformed into toys through his creativity, nurturing his curiosity to build, deconstruct, and repurpose broken objects into new creations. This experience, combined with his education in industrial design (completed in 2007), graphic design, and urban art, gave rise to his distinctive style based on abstraction and geometric deconstruction, deeply rooted in the simplicity and inventiveness of his early years.
From graffiti, Graff developed a unique visual language, characterized by dynamic compositions, fragmented forms, and vibrant colors. He transforms animals and elements of nature into works that merge geometric precision with organic energy, exploring the balance between structure and fluidity. His work reflects his Brazilian origins, drawing on colors and fauna inspired by Brazilian culture, and his journey as an immigrant in the United States, where he blends nature and technology to create a kind of “synthetic nature,” fragmented by the influence of the modern technological world. His compositions uniquely and vibrantly celebrate the coexistence between humanity and nature.
Since then, Arlin Graff has painted murals worldwide, transforming public spaces into celebrations of color and movement. He has worked on projects in countries such as the United States, Canada, Turkey, England, Portugal, Taiwan, and Brazil, collaborating with major global brands like Nike, Netflix, Levi’s, Twitter, Facebook, Smirnoff, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Havaianas. His works, which include large-scale murals, sculptures, and canvases, engage with urban spaces and local communities, expanding the art experience beyond the confines of galleries.
In solo and group exhibitions, Arlin Graff explores themes such as nature’s adaptation to urban spaces, connection, and resilience, reinforcing his belief that art has the power to transform not only environments but also our perception of the importance of nature and its relationship with modern society.
